Introducing Associazione di Solidarietà Donne per le Donne (ASDD)

Founded in Italy in May 2022, Associazione di Solidarietà Donne per le Donne (ASDD) emerged from the collective efforts of seven resilient women refugees from Afghanistan. Following their displacement from Afghanistan in August 2021, these visionary women established ASDD as a community-based frontline organization dedicated to addressing the needs of refugee women in Italy.

Our Mission and Commitment:

At ASDD, our mission is rooted in the pursuit of gender equality and empowerment for all Afghan women refugees. Aligned with the fifth Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations, we strive to achieve this through rigorous research, capacity-building workshops, awareness campaigns, and facilitating access to education and employment opportunities.

Position: Online Mentor Volunteer

Responsibilities:

1. English Language Support: Conduct online video calls to practice conversational English and enhance writing skills.
2. Assistance with Documentation: Help students with CV and motivation letter writing.
3. Guidance on Applications: Guide students through the process of applying for scholarships and university admissions.

Criteria for Online Mentor Volunteers:

• English Language Proficiency: Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Availability: Able to commit at least one hour per week to mentorship sessions conducted via online video calls, for a minimum duration of three months.
• Empathy and Patience: Demonstrates empathy, patience, and understanding when interacting with mentees, recognizing their unique challenges and experiences.  
• Commitment to Women’s Empowerment: Passionate about empowering women and girls, particularly those facing barriers to education and opportunity.
• Cultural Sensitivity: Respects and values diverse cultural backgrounds, showing sensitivity to the cultural context of the mentees.
• Internet Connectivity: Access to a stable internet connection and necessary technology to conduct online mentorship sessions effectively.

Duration: At least 3 months of commitment are required.
