On the 15th of August, 2021 everything changed in Afghanistan. On that day, the Taliban, an extremist government, surrounded Kabul and took over Afghanistan. The Taliban enacted many controlling rules that took away women’s rights one by one and imposed severe restrictions on women’s freedom and opportunities. It has now been over three years since this regime began and the Taliban have taken away everything from Afghanistani women, even their motivation for living.
The Taliban have imposed restrictions on the lives of women and taken their freedom. First of all, they have banned schools and universities for girls and women. They ordered to close all the education centers such as courses, schools, and universities until secondary signification. They asked women to cover their faces while appearing on TV and wear long clothes while going outside. Recently, the Taliban government ordered women to not go to public places like parks and gardens. After that, they forbid working outside for women and girls without considering their financial situation.
The regime of the Taliban took two decades of achievements away from Afghanistani women, and it led to their depression and deep sadness. When the Taliban enacted their rules and imposed restrictions on women and girls, they destroyed all the achievements women had worked for and achieved in two decades. These events made women and girls hopeless about their future. Some women started making crafts, some got married and continued their normal lives, but some others who couldn’t tolerate these injustices committed suicide.
It has been more than three years since the Taliban imposed restrictions on the lives of women and girls. Their regime banned education for women, and took away women’s rights and motivation for continuing their life.
